We are still in Bariloche. The past few weeks have involved a lot of travelling and moving between towns, so we felt the need to relax here for almost a week. Yesterday we went on a 40 mile bike ride through the Andes and the surrounding lakes. We read in a local guidebook that the ride was supposed to be a simple ride along the lake. Instead it was an exhausting eight hour tour through the National Park. Because we thought the ride would be so easy, we stopped just an hour into the ride and hiked to the top of one of the mountains on the side of the lake. The same guidebook recommended riding to the top of this mountain and back down. The trail was so steep that we pushed the bicycles up almost the entire trail. And on the way back down it was too steep to ride. So in the end, we pushed our bikes all the way to the top of the mountain, walked them back down, and when we got back to the bottom we had about 30 miles of our ride left. At least the view from on top was great. Here is a view from another vista point.
Today we are resting up our sore legs. Tomorrow we head to El Bolson for a few days.
