Bariloche

We are Bariloche which is in the Lakes District of Argentina. This is a big tourist town next to one of the largest ski resorts in South America. The town itself is located in Nahuel Huapi National Park and is famous for having lots of chocolate stores, good restaurants and a plethora of outdoor activities. I would describe this town as a mix between a Vermont ski town and Napa. There are restaurants all over the town serving up fondue, wild boar, trout, venison, and of course steaks. Lots and lots of steaks. Here was one of my favorite steaks of the trip that a friend ordered. It is two steaks, stuffed with ham, cheese and peppers, and a side of fries, all for the price of $6 US dollars. This town is dangerous for your health. You would get very fat if you stayed here for long. Luckily the town is situated in the National Park, so there are endless outdoor activities that allow us to burn off the calories from these epic meals.

We went on a hike yesterday at Catedral ski resort. We took the tram up to the top of the mountain, and followed an 8 mile trail down the back side,  and around the side of the mountain. The views here were pretty amazing, as were the fall colors.

We will be here for a few more days and will be heading down to El Bolson to visit a friend of Su’s from college who is living there.
